Family medicine physician raises $12.7 million salary, raises other medical duties

An Indiana family medicine physician has been paid $12 million to take over family medicine duties for another year.

Family Medicine Associates of Indiana said in a news release that Dr. Scott W. Smith, who was appointed in March, was named to the position because he was the only physician on the board.

The firm said he will have an annual salary of $121,000 and his annual benefits include health insurance and 401(k) accounts.

Smith was previously the director of the Indianapolis Family Medicine Associates and the Indiana Family Practice Group.

In 2016, he earned $12,037 per year.
